On this page we feature short answers to a number of the most frequently asked questions at Gentle Dentistry. It is important to be as informed as possible when making decisions regarding your oral and dental health. Answering your questions and concerns is our highest priority.
Why should I choose Gentle Dentistry?
Selecting a dental practice is an important decision and one that you should feel confident making. At Gentle Dentistry you will notice a difference between our dental office and others from your initial phone call. We have an exceptional dental team of professionals who are eager to make your appointment comfortable and stress free. Our dentists give each patient their undivided attention. Our greatest reward is to see the beautiful smiles, and improved self-esteem that we have created.
What procedures do you perform?
At Gentle Dentistry, we offer a wide variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry such as cleanings and exams to restorative and cosmetic smile makeovers utilizing the latest advances in dental technology.
How can I get a whiter smile?
We offer several different methods for obtaining a whiter and brighter smile, Zoom in office whitening, and take-home tooth whitening treatments. However, if tooth whitening is not the best option for your particular case, you may be a candidate for obtaining a permanent whiter smile via lumineers, porcelain veneers, or porcelain crowns.
What is the difference between in-office tooth whitening and take-home tooth whitening?
The biggest difference between the two methods is simply the time required to achieve satisfactory results. Zoom in-office whitening is completed in one appointment which takes about ninety minutes. Take-home tooth whitening is accomplished by taking impressions of your teeth and fabricating a custom tray for you to wear at home during whitening, either overnight or at intervals during the day. Most patients achieve optimal results in 7 to 10 days with our take-home whitening treatments.
What is a porcelain veneer?
A porcelain veneer is a thin shell of porcelain ceramic that is bonded over a tooth. Veneers can be used to mask stained, correct misshapen or misaligned teeth, close spaces between teeth, and repair worn down or broken teeth. In many cases, porcelain veneers can be used to provide the appearance of straighter teeth without the use of orthodontics.
How much does cosmetic dentistry cost?
The cost of cosmetic dental treatment varies from procedure to procedure. While many cosmetic treatments, such as tooth whitening, are relatively inexpensive, more involved procedures, such as porcelain restorations and porcelain veneers, incur higher costs but tend to provide longer-lasting, beautiful results. At Gentle Dentistry, we offer affordable payment plans through CareCredit so that each of our patients have the opportunity to achieve the beautiful smile he or she deserves.
Do you accept my dental insurance?
Your insurance will be accepted by Gentle Dentistry, provided that your insurance carrier does not require that you choose a dentist based on a list of contracted offices. We will make every effort to estimate what your insurance will pay prior to each appointment.
However, if we do not participate with your insurance carrier, these estimates may not always be exact. Because dental insurance is generally not structured to pay 100% of all dental services, patients will be responsible for payment of any portion not covered by insurance on the date of service. Our in-house insurance specialist will be happy to answer any questions you may regarding your dental insurance benefits.
Does my dental insurance cover cosmetic procedures?
Dental insurance does not typically cover any treatment that is performed purely for cosmetic reasons. If a cosmetic dentistry procedure is necessary for your oral health, we can assist you in submitting your insurance claim and provide any documentation necessary to help you in maximizing your benefits.
What can I do to replace these old, dark fillings?
Amalgam fillings are unnatural in appearance; they can leak, crack, and allow new decay to enter the tooth beneath the filling. Because metallic fillings appear as bright white spots on dental x-rays, we cannot see this new decay underneath the filling. Patients now have the option to replace their old amalgam fillings with tooth-colored (mercury 貿ree) restorations that provide a more natural appearance and help strengthen the tooth structure.
